for my recent booth at quilt market, i dreamed of draping the walls with wallpaper of coordinating prints to the fabric line i debuted called succulence. of course, i turned to the only place i know of that creates quick, on-demand, custom wallpaper - spoonflower!
i had never used spoonflower's wallpaper before, and since i wouldn't consider myself a wallpaper-hanging-pro, i was admittedly a little nervous about the whole project. i'm pleased to say that i was blown away at how beautiful this wallpaper was and how easy it was to hang!
i should quickly note - we of course intentionally tore the wallpaper. for the booth, i wanted to create a look of a hundred year old house where wallpaper had begun to peel and tear and show all the layers beneath each other. i love how it turned out for the look of the booth, but i promise you're wallpaper won't rip, tear or peel away from the wall unless you try very hard to make it do so. wink!
since we needed to be able to tear the paper away from the wall, we chose to use the water activated smooth rolls. each roll came with super easy to follow instructions and we were able to hang all of it within about 30 minutes. my mom, maxie makes, and i smoothed it out (with cards from our wallet) and loved how easy it was to reposition on the wall. there were a few bubbles initially, but as soon as it was dry, they had all disappeared (due to the stretching/drying process) which left us with a smooth, seamless and beautiful final wall.
the colors were so vibrant and we had so much fun hanging this wallpaper. i can see how it could become very addicting!
now for the fun part - spoonflower has generously offered to give away 4 rolls of smooth wallpaper to one lucky reader! you could either design your own, or pick from spoonflower's vast designer's library. read below for details on how to enter!
