Today we’re discussing photography styles. When it comes to developing a brand image, consistency is everything.
Whether it’s on an Instagram grid (like the examples in this post), in a shop or on a website, keeping a consistent tone and mood to the photos you share will give your online spaces an extra polished look and help your visitors fully indulge in the experience of visiting your site.
Let’s take a look at a few styles. As you study the examples below, try identify the flow to each style and what makes the photos work well together.
While having a consistent photography style is important for all of our online endeavors, it’s especially important on the most visual platform – Instagram. If you struggle to identify a style in your own photography, or find that you like to move through styles, I would suggest using an app like Planoly to plan out your grid in advance. You can drag and drop photos so that they flow well in your grid, pulling your follows in by telling a color story. If you prefer not to commit to a single style, planning your grid is also a great way to evolve from one mood to the next without it seeming abrupt or disconnected.
If you could choose one word to describe your style, what would it be? Share with us on this post in the Facebook Group!
