What does my life look like now? Since Immersion I have taken other online courses to further my business acumen, I get up at 5 am, work out, do deep strategic reflective thinking, and move my business forward.
I think what best explains the impact Immersion had on my life is if you take a look at my to-do list from before I took Immersion, Jan 2021, and then fast forward to look at my to-do list today.
Jan 2021:
Meal Plan
Clear out the cupboards
Put the Christmas decorations away
Jan 2022
Review designs for stationery
Create an opt-in
Write sequence for the email list
Flashback to Jan 2021, I am a stay-at-home mum, with my youngest almost 1-year-old, kind of feeling like I needed to get back to ‘real life’ but not really knowing what it was I wanted to get back to doing.
I came across Bonnie Christine’s Immersion course and it honestly fit so many pieces together for me. I come from an engineering background, but have since diverged and have many interests, and Immersion seemed to be exactly the glue to stick all these moving parts together for me.
Quilting, running a business, being artistic and creative, making fabric, making my own stationery line, creating an online course… They all clicked into place. I always felt like I could get into doing something creative or artistic, but I never saw a way to make that a career or a legitimate pursuit in some sense.
Fast forward to Jan 2022, and the ball is well and truly rolling. I have an email list, a website, I have been working on my art practice and learning learning learning, not only about surface pattern design but creative entrepreneurship in general. Bonnie is not only a successful pattern designer, she is also a dynamite creative entrepreneur. You can learn so much just by watching Bonnie not only do her Illustrator thing, but also her course thing, membership thing and so many other things. Yes, now it all seems like too much, but it is all broken down into just the right size pieces to learn as you go.
There is so much more to the course though, and it really has been the creative entrepreneur side that has helped catapult me down this road I’m on.
I was also worried I wasn’t going to have enough time to do the class, with kids at home, etc. I made it work. I did get help from family to look after the kids and I made a schedule to work on the course every day in the morning for a couple of hours and during nap times. It is intensive, it is called Immersion, but it is so worth it.
The next steps for me are now all about growth. I am building building building, my own business, my own career path, my own lifestyle.
ALLLLLLL the possibilities that it opened up for me. Not only surface pattern design, but how to start, grow and run my own creative business. I have started learning about things I didn’t even know existed. I am going down Alll the rabbit holes, in a focused, driven kind of way if that makes sense. I have started annual planning, something I was always skeptical of, and am reaping the rewards. I have goals, defined plans and am actively taking steps towards realizing all my and my family’s dreams.
