Through Immersion, I grew in my confidence as an artist and truly began to believe that there really is room for me in this industry.
When I first saw the opportunity to join Immersion, I knew almost instantly that I wanted to take the course and begin my journey as a surface pattern designer. I wanted to do it badly but wondered if I had what it took or if I was just going to be wasting our money.
My husband assured me that even if I never made any money from this venture, as long as I was enjoying it and getting something out of it, then he was happy to invest in me. (He’s the best!) So, I gathered my courage, signed up and eagerly waited to get started!
I had never opened Illustrator before Immersion and when it was finished, I had the tools I needed to make any kind of pattern I wanted to create.
I was familiar with all the tools and shortcuts and even impressed some friends that use Illustrator regularly!
My daughter, Avery was 5.5 when I took the course and she was determined to learn as well! She is exceptional and of course, learn she did! She has made many patterns herself and we are also working on a portfolio for her to pitch companies!
At first this was just my dream and my goals, but now my daughter is a budding surface pattern designer as well and I’m so thankful we are on this journey together! I think I get more excited to see what she will create than myself sometimes!
To anyone on the fence about this class I’d say, if you feel that burning in your heart, give yourself a chance and go for it.
