Since signing up for Immersion, I have signed two licensing deals for FULL collections launching this spring (One with a major wallpaper brand and the other one with a major textile company) and three other licensing deals with major brands in the fashion category.
I launched Screech Owl Design, a paper goods company in 2007 whose products are carried in over 1500 stores worldwide. Shortly after the launch, I was approached by major retailers like Anthropologie & Land of Nod to license my patterns which were all created in Photoshop. Those accounts opened many more doors and collaborations for me which grew over the years. However, at the time, I had only a basic working knowledge of illustrator, but always wanted and craved to expand my illustrator skill set.
Fast forward, I finally signed up for Immersion. The pandemic afforded me the time I never had and it was the best thing I ever did! As a creator, I believe it’s so important to have a strong background with a variety of programs to be fully “immersed” in the industry and to be able to grab opportunities as they emerge.
And, if that wasn’t enough, I recently took on a new full-time Creative Director role that required a deeper working knowledge of illustrator. With the extra concentration, discipline, and practice assignments that I gave myself through the Immersion structure, I was able to take things up a notch.
I’m so grateful to have participated in the Immersion course! With the ability to raise each other up, share our stories & our work, there is nothing we can’t do together.
