I loved how Immersion opened my eyes to a reality I’d not fully considered before! Plus the absolutely fantastic and supportive community that exists around it.
I felt incredibly nervous and unsure about purchasing the Immersion course in 2021… I reached out to alumni that I found on Instagram to try and allay my fears and hoped to be told how worthwhile it was. They did just that of course, and something nagged at me that this investment would turn out to be just the thing I was searching for.
As the year has gone on I’ve reflected and come to the conclusion that Immersion turned out to be just that, a wonderfully valuable investment in myself and probably, I would say hands down:
The sheer amount I’ve learned from taking Immersion is not to be under-estimated. I went in knowing nothing about Adobe Illustrator, about collections, about different industries.
I went through the course pretty slowly, not always keeping up with the module schedule or the lives, but I’ve revisited the course time and time again, in fact, multiple times a week ever since as I develop a new pattern, a new keyboard shortcut or try a different technique.
Since it finished, I’ve been through the entire course again at least once, and I’m continuously digging into lessons to refresh myself or remember hearing something I want to make a note of once more.
Ultimately, Immersion gifted me a way to channel my long-held, deep desire to re-ignite my creativity, into a new purpose and an art-filled future. One of the other gifts has been being introduced by the amazing SPD community, those who work with Bonnie but also Immersion alumni who share their inspiring stories and success, and it led me to join the autumn cohort of Flourish, where I continue to be surrounded by like-minded, inspiring and uplifting people.
All these months later, I’m giving myself permission to work on finding my style by continuing to create patterns, work on a few collections and putting all of this out there into the world piece by piece. I’m looking forward to spending more time making art, but with a purpose and a direction. I’m not ready to ‘turn it into a career’ yet, but I remind myself daily that that’s ok, everyone has their own journey and I’m enjoying the ride.
Finally, thanks Bonnie and team for the opportunity to learn from your wealth of knowledge and for choosing to share your calling with us.
