Since Immersion, I’ve rethought my entire career and what I want to do going forward. I would encourage anyone to join Immersion, no matter their level. It was so helpful to get another creative person’s viewpoint and approach, as well as the creative peers.
I’ve been a Textile Designer for 28 years but didn’t realize other opportunities existed with the same skill set. I wanted to take Immersion to learn more about other surface pattern design avenues. The price held me back, but mostly because I’ve spent similar money in the past and wanted to make sure I would be able to do something with what I learned.
I’m (still) learning Illustrator, and have a new respect for how I can use it in my creative endeavors.
This is going to sound crazy, but since Immersion, I’ve opened a physical store where I support other creatives and teach creative classes, started teaching on Skillshare, am expanding my product lines that I sell wholesale, and am building a portfolio to pitch. I’ve also been pitching new textile design clients with licensing rather than hourly/project rates.
I’m looking forward to going through Immersion again (I really want to fine-tune my Illustrator skills). I’m also looking forward to expanding my personal brand. I’ve realized what I want and what I don’t want. And I expect 2022 to be my breakthrough year.
