The best part about the Immersion program is that it’s a complete resource all in one place. It’s easy to look up topics and find the answers you need in multiple areas of the program (videos, zoom calls, mentors, etc). I have gone back and watched most videos many times.
You don’t have to be “artistic” in a traditional sense to achieve your surface design goals. The program is well-curated to include as much support as you need as well as the opportunity to learn without the pressure of sharing your work.
Prior to starting my journey, I was a high school teacher. Like many people during the pandemic, my life took an unexpected turn. My home and everything I owned were lost in a wildfire in Northern California. I was devastated AND in the middle of a pandemic. Teaching during the pandemic was already tough and not personally fulfilling; adding a life-changing disaster was testing my grit and heart. More than anything I needed a creative outlet. I was worried about not having “new” enough technology to be able to achieve the results I wanted without added frustrations. I took a chance on myself (and my 5-year-old MacBook Air) and started the process.
Since completing the Immersion course I have completed almost 100 patterns, created my own website (including mock-ups), and launched social media sites for my surface design business. If you are thinking about joining Immersion and have the time to dedicate to learning these skills I encourage you to sign up and get ready for a life-changing experience. It wasn’t easy, but seeing my artistic abilities and confidence grow and continually looking forward to my first licensing has kept me going.
