When I graduated high school in ’74, the only college offering textile design was in North Carolina and not feasible for me to attend. I grew up in a family of typographers/printers and our family business lasted for 53 years. It ended when my parents became ill and my full-time job was to be a caregiver. During that time I had many images swirling around in my head but no desire to create.
Years later, my mind was blown when I stumbled upon Immersion: surface design was exactly where I wanted my new path to take me!
It was a struggle converting from an original artist to a digital artist. Adding the expertise of Bonnie’s video chats and visiting artists really rounded out the areas and questions that had me stymied.
Immersion has combined all of my new skills with the business side of Flourish enabling me to open my first online store through Society6—and it’s only the beginning.
The past month has been focused on marketing, building an email list, submitting artwork on challenges, and loving all of the new ideas I have been working on for the website and IG. I became a Gramma during this time and am now fully focused on my marketing. I know I will see my work out in the world and am already proud of how hard I have worked to get here.
The courses have created a wonderful community of artists and it is important to take advantage of all that is presented to us. If you are a person who loves a challenge, likes to learn and create art then absolutely join the family! Thank you, Bonnie.
