I was a stay-at-home mom until my kids were old enough to start school. At that time I decided to go back to college to get my Graphic Design Degree. I graduated at the top of my class and lived in upstate NY. Upon graduating I ventured out to find my dream job and they all were requiring previous experience. I reached back out to one of my professors and he recommended I move to Manhattan for a year to get that experience, then return back to upstate NY. (Hello?!? I have a family!)
I ended up getting hired at a cable company JUST to get my foot in the door, knowing they had a graphics department. Within 3 months the graphics department moved to Albany—3 hours away. At that point, I was invested in my current job, great pay, great benefits, etc… So I did some freelance on the side just to try to keep my skills up. I also started a photography business doing weddings to satisfy my creative inner self.
FAST FORWARD>> I’ve since moved to Colorado, working from home (still in the cable industry) and still freelancing whenever I can.
I really thought long and hard about taking the class. After all, it was a big commitment, what if I fizzled out? or lost momentum? What if I completed it and found there wasn’t room for me in this industry? or worse yet what if I ended up just being a failure? I was on the fence about it, but my husband really encouraged me to take it, and so I did.
Bonnie taught me so much in the Immersion class. I encourage anyone that is on the fence to take the Immersion Course to jump in and take it! It’s truly a game-changer!
Since taking the Immersion course in 2021; I have started my own business; Meadow and the Muse Design, created my website, printed my business cards, recently opened my Etsy shop, I will be doing some art festivals in my area over the summer with my own products that I will be selling.
My dream is to get licensed and to hopefully see my artwork in stores or on fabrics.
