Learning a completely new career at age 45 is the high point of my solo entrepreneur’s journey. It opened several doors for additional income & nudged me into discovering what talents I can monetize while loving my work every single day. The support inside Immersion is amazing & that put the cherry on the million-dollar idea for me.
This meant that I had the courage to reach out to companies with blind emails, landed some bizarre opportunities, like going on the TV Show “Put some Colour in your Life” without sacrificing my first love which is teaching.
5 years ago I left behind my Hairstyling career of 24 years and made plans to relocate to Australia. We sold everything we had, closed down my two businesses, and came to a foreign country.
My husband had a permanent position at an Aviation company and I became a full-time Mom, continued my Reiki practice, and painted as often as I could. Boredom became a nemesis as I searched to have a more meaningful & fulfilling career as a Creative.
I had two choices, begin again or start something new. And so, it all began. I figured creativity had to play into my whole life. As we began building our new life & I longed to contribute to our lifestyle in a big way, things started turning around.
I stumbled upon Bonnie when I searched for creative careers and joined Skillshare (2019) without hesitation. I made lists of potential pathways. Everything I was interested in pursuing was in the lines of Surface Designs. Jumping into every class I could take that didn’t require me to actually have Illustrator or Photoshop. You see, I had zero income and could never ask my husband for money. He provided for us and worked extra hours to uphold a humble existence in Perth. All the while we were dreaming of a farmhouse and making our dreams come true.
I had my sights on joining Immersion in 2020 & it didn’t happen because we had to move once more. This fueled my desire to have location freedom! I wanted to work anywhere & everywhere without a pause in our lives
My vision and mission began to align in late 2020 when I joined the waiting list… I’m a proud 2021 Immersion Alumni.
I’ve since built my Website, upgraded to a full Adobe Suite, Self Published my first quoted Sketchbook Journal, completed over 200 Surface Design Patterns, proofed 95 fabric designs on Spoonflower, designed a 3 piece set of Watercolour Wallpaper Designs for a client, and upload weekly content on my Sketchbook Lovers Membership. I write occasional blog articles with content to help other creatives who might be stuck in their creative pursuits.
Even though I had a small following on YouTube and uploaded a few Watercolour Classes as a Skillshare Teacher, my efforts only Blossomed when I invested my time fully in the Immersion course.
Self Mastery & Surface Pattern Designs came together to become the brand Andsodesigns where I get to build the Creative Lifestyle I want to live in a joyful & happy environment I can control.
