Since taking the Immersion Course, I have completed my first pattern collection and used the designs for my 2022 printable calendars, and other downloadable stationery, for my store and website. I’m about to release a range of printed notebooks and journals that will also feature patterns and illustrations from this collection.
Before taking the Immersion course I was designing printable planner stationery for my website and blog, Space and Quiet. I loved what I was doing, but I was keen to bring a more unique style to my designs, using my own illustrations and digital art, as well as expand on the range of products I was offering. Plus, I had always wanted to master Adobe Illustrator after learning just the basics while working as a graphic artist many years ago.
I only discovered surface pattern design a couple of weeks before Immersion opened for enrollment, but I knew instantly it was exactly what I was looking for. I was worried I might be jumping in too quickly to a course I knew very little about, but I went with my gut and I’m so glad I did!
I really cherish the organization and workflow skills I learned that help me to research a pattern collection, gather ideas and inspiration, choose colors and bring everything together in a cohesive way. I absolutely love this process!
I’ve already started brainstorming and sketching out ideas for new pattern collections and products, and I’m really looking forward to further developing my skills and seeing my business grow.
