Lesson #3: Repeating Pattern
In this lesson, we get to make a repeating pattern!
I'll never forget the exact moment that I created my very first repeating pattern. It was not pretty, but I was so proud of it. I immediately sent it to my mom and I think we both shed tears over it. Ha!
When you see your design in repeat for the first time, it's like magic. You'll know you've been bitten by the 'repeating pattern bug' when you start seeing patterns everywhere, you try to find the repeats in the patterns you see and you can't stop creating your own.
Lesson #3: Repeat Patterns - 2 Ways
Lesson Objective
Once you're happy with the way your illustrations are colored, it's time to start building a pattern. Oftentimes I find it helpful to create mini clusters of motifs to use in my patterns. Don't forget to 'stretch' your motifs by using the duplicate, resize, rotate and reflect tools.
In the next lesson, I'll show you how to save + export your pattern and order your very own fabric.
